Rally Class Descriptions

Novice Rally Signs
Looking for a fun, structured way to build your dog’s skills? Our Novice Rally class is the perfect introduction to Rally Obedience, covering both AKC and ASCA Novice sign exercises. You'll develop essential foundations like heeling, engagement, and learning theory, all in a positive, supportive environment.

This class is designed to make the Rally ring enjoyable for both you and your dog while helping you build confidence and teamwork for future success in the sport.

Prerequisite: Dogs must know how to sit and down on cue and have a basic understanding of loose-leash walking.

Novice Rally Courses
Take the next step in your Rally journey! This class builds on the skills from Novice Rally Signs, helping you and your dog put all the Novice-level signs together into full courses. You'll focus on maintaining focus and smooth heeling, executing complete courses with confidence, and preparing your team for in-person or virtual trialing.

We’ll work with AKC Novice-level courses, including select AKC Virtual Rally options. If time allows and you choose to participate, you’ll have the opportunity to video your runs for submission. While in-person trialing is always encouraged, AKC does accept virtual legs (note: these are not eligible for the Rally National Championship). Handlers interested in virtual submissions are responsible for understanding the program requirements.

Prerequisite: Dogs must have food drive to enroll. Handlers must have thorough understanding of all AKC / ASCA Novice Signs and dogs are able to perform each sign.  Must complete Novice Rally Signs or have Instructor approval.

Intermediate Rally Signs
You’re ready for the next step! Intermediate Rally Signs will focus on the Intermediate signs for AKC. We will tighten up on the more difficult Novice Signs and introduce Intermediate skills to prep you for courses.

Prerequisite: Novice Rally Courses class unless otherwise approved by instructor.

Intermediate Rally Courses
Take your Rally teamwork to the next level! This class helps you put all the AKC Intermediate signs into action, building smooth, confident performance across full courses. You’ll sharpen your dog’s focus and heeling, improve handling flow, and develop trial-ready skills as you continue advancing in the sport.

Prerequisite: Completion of the Intermediate Rally Signs class or instructor approval.

Excellent Rally Signs
Step into advanced Rally work with confidence! This class introduces all AKC Excellent-level signs—without the pressure of jumps. Each exercise will be performed on-lead, allowing you to build precision, fluency, and teamwork before transitioning to off-lead performance. Whether you're preparing for competition or simply looking to sharpen advanced skills, this class offers a supportive environment to elevate your Rally training.

Prerequisite: Completion of the Intermediate Rally Courses class or instructor approval.
