Seminar Descriptions
Skills & Drills (Fri 8:30am-12:00pm): Focusing on learning & proofing independent performances on crucial agility skills. Skills covered may include any of the following: go ons, stays (contacts, startlines), outs, takeoff vs landing side crosses, obstacle discriminations, turning away on cue, collection, lateral startline sends, distance on weaves and contacts, & more. Prerequisites: Any level as long as dogs can perform all obstacles (no/low bars and open channels/weave wires are fine) and can perform short sequences of 4-6 obstacles.
Brain Games (Fri 1:00pm-4:30pm): Addressing the human side of the team! Here we work through skills such as: improving your ability to maintain connection, create consistency in your handling cues, efficiently walk the course, smooth your handling transitions, memorize courses and work through challenges when things go off the plan. Prerequisites: Teams competing in any level.
Defining & Handling Lines (Sat 8:30am-12:00pm): Part of running agility is understanding what lines your dog will naturally be running on between the obstacles and how you can change or influence them to your team's benefit! Learn how to: recognize your dog's lines, understand and create the ideal degree of turn, how to time your handling to give adequate information and how to discern which cue to use where for your team. Prerequisites: Teams competing in any level.
Masters Handling & Course Analysis (Sat 1:00pm-4:30pm): Not only will we look to identify challenges on Masters level courses and the most ideal timing and handling to get through them, but we will also learn what "jobs" we can give our dogs and when they need to know about them. Learn to analyze the course to better achieve your goals- whether you're looking for better communication, to speed up your times, drop less bars, create more distance in your handling or any number of things it all starts with understanding what the course and your dog both require. Prerequisites: Teams competing in Excellent or above.
Premier/International Coursework (Sun 8:30am-12:00pm): Coursework including challenges such as discriminations, backsides, threadles, layering, tight turns, path options, and distance work, Here we will work some fast, fun, flowing courses and learn how to handle for these various challenges while on the move! Whether you have interest in Premier, ISC, World Teams or just love to train above what you compete at this is sure to stretch your skills and help you strengthen your communication with your dog. Prerequisites: Teams competing in Excellent or above.
