Joan Meyer and her sheltie, Rai, demonstrating the power of distance handling

Are you tired of being told you can’t keep up with your dog? Believe it or not, it’s actually a compliment!

The average dog’s speed is 15 – 20 mph. Some dogs can reach a speed of 45 mph over a short distance. The fastest human has clocked 28 mph but the fastest in a 5K run is only 6.42 mph. The following factors play a big role in every runner’s speed: gender, age, injuries, height, weight, and physical shape.

This workshop will teach you to overcome your human limitations by adding distance to your agility toolbox. Handling from a distance puts you in the right place at the right time without slowing down your dog.

Each session has room for 12 working teams and unlimited auditors. There are two sessions. Teams need to be competing to have a working spot.

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2020

Session 1: 9 am – 12 pm

Session 2: 1 pm – 4 pm
